(The full moon illuminates LESTAT. His body is scarred. He does not stand entirely upright as he limps his slow way toward the bow of the ship. He leans against the railing and gazes up into the night sky. A broken, tortured soul.)

I don't know why I didn't heed your words. I don't know why I didn't listen. Somehow I never can… and now I have discovered that hell exists after all.
